SEN Teaching Assistant – Secondary Alternative Provision

Location: London Start Date: ASAP Contract: Full-time, Long-term Pay: Competitive daily rate, dependent on experience

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with a strong background supporting secondary-aged pupils with SEMH and challenging behaviour?

Do you have experience working within an Alternative Provision, PRU, SEMH school or similar specialist setting?

TeacherActive is looking for a confident and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join a secondary Alternative Provision supporting young people who require additional help with their behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement with education.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

Support secondary-aged pupils with SEMH, ADHD and additional learning needs Work with pupils who may display challenging or dysregulated behaviour Provide 1:1 and small-group support Help pupils re-engage with learning and build confidence Use positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies Build strong, consistent and professional relationships with pupils Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and the wider SEND team Support pupils academically, socially and emotionally

We are looking for someone who:

Has previous SEMH experience Ideally has experience within an Alternative Provision, PRU or specialist secondary setting Is confident supporting pupils with challenging behaviour Has strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills Is patient, resilient and able to remain calm under pressure Can establish clear boundaries while building positive relationships Is passionate about supporting young people who may have struggled within mainstream education
