SEN Teaching Assistant – Year 1 Support | Harrow

Pay: £93–£100 per day, dependent on qualifications and experience

Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary

Teach Now is recruiting a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated one-to-one support for a Year 1 pupil at a primary school in Harrow.

Youll support a non-verbal child with complex learning and communication needs who is awaiting an autism assessment. Through a personalised curriculum, predictable routines and a trusting relationship, youll help them engage with learning and feel secure throughout the school day.

Your role

• Adapt activities to the pupils developmental level, interests and learning needs.

• Support communication through visuals, gestures and simple language.

• Help the child manage emotions, daily routines and transitions.

• Provide sensitive personal care, including nappy changing, following school procedures.

• Work closely with the class teacher and SEN team to monitor progress and encourage independence.

Essential requirements

• Previous experience supporting children with SEN and autism (ASD).

• Experience providing personal care, including confidence supporting toileting and nappy changing.

• A patient, resilient and nurturing approach, with the ability to remain calm and consistent.

• Confidence adapting learning and building positive relationships with children.

• A strong commitment to safeguarding, dignity and inclusion.

Experience supporting non-verbal children or pupils with speech, language and communication needs would be particularly valuable.
