Teaching Assistant – SEN | Sutton Coldfield

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding full-time opportunity where you can make a genuine difference every day?

We are currently recruiting Teaching Assistants to join a specialist school in Sutton Coldfield , supporting pupils with a range of complex and additional needs.

The school supports children with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) , alongside a range of additional physical, sensory, communication and medical needs.

About the role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and specialist staff to provide personalised support throughout the school day.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support
• Supporting pupils to access personalised learning activities
• Supporting children with ASD, SLD and PMLD
• Helping pupils develop communication, independence and life skills
• Supporting sensory regulation and emotional needs
• Providing personal care where required
• Supporting toileting, changing and other personal-care routines
• Supporting pupils with physical disabilities and mobility needs
• Assisting with manual handling where required
• Following individual care plans and school procedures
• Supporting pupils with communication difficulties
• Working closely with teachers and other professionals
• Creating a safe, positive and nurturing learning environment

Experience required

Experience with the following is desirable but not essential :

• Autism / ASD
• PMLD or SLD
• Physical disabilities
• Personal care
• Manual handling
• Mobility support
• Sensory needs
• Communication difficulties
• Medical needs
• Positive behaviour support
• Team Teach / physical intervention

You do not need experience in every area listed above. Strong SEN experience and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs are the key requirements.
