About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in Rotherham. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide tailored support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs. Assist in implementing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual learning programmes. Support pupils with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language difficulties, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual pupil needs. Promote pupils' independence, confidence, and emotional wellbeing. Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff and SENCOs. Support positive behaviour management strategies and help maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment. Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.

Requirements

Previous experience working with children with SEN is desirable. Understanding of a range of special educational needs and effective support strategies. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. A patient, caring, and empathetic approach. Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
