SEN Teaching Assistant

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in Doncaster. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide tailored support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs. Assist in implementing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual learning programmes. Support pupils with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language difficulties, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals. Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual pupil needs. Encourage independence, confidence, and positive social interaction. Monitor and record pupil progress, providing regular feedback to teaching staff. Promote positive behaviour and help maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements

Previous experience working with children with SEN is desirable. Understanding of a range of special educational needs and effective support strategies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A patient, caring, and adaptable approach to supporting pupils. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
