Setting: Specialist Complex Needs School
Start: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, long-term
Pay: £95-£115 per day PAYE
Age Range: Primary/Secondary
Experience: Complex SEND / PMLD experience desirable
The Role
You will work closely with teachers, therapists and other specialist staff to provide highly personalised support to pupils with complex needs.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support
- Supporting pupils with PMLD and complex learning needs
- Supporting communication through approaches such as PECS, Makaton and AAC
- Supporting sensory regulation and engagement
- Assisting with personal care where required
- Supporting mobility and physical needs
- Working towards individual EHCP targets
- Encouraging independence and life skills
- Supporting pupils to access classroom activities and the wider curriculum
- Working alongside therapists and other professionals
- Creating a safe, calm and nurturing environment
The Ideal Candidate
We're looking for someone who is patient, compassionate, resilient and genuinely passionate about complex SEND.
Previous experience supporting pupils with PMLD, SLD, complex medical needs, physical disabilities or profound communication difficulties would be highly desirable.
Experience with personal care, hoisting, PEGs, suctioning, sensory support, Makaton, PECS, AAC or moving and handling would be advantageous.
