SEN Teaching Assistant

About the Role

Our client is seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with Special Educational Needs in a mainstream primary school in Reading . You will work closely with the classroom teacher and SENCO to provide tailored support to individual students or small groups, helping them to access the curriculum and thrive in a school environment. This role is crucial in ensuring that all students, regardless of their needs, receive the attention and assistance required for their academic and personal development. Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) as directed by the class teacher.
• Assist students with accessing the curriculum, including literacy and numeracy tasks.
• Support students with their behaviour, social interaction, and emotional well-being.
• Help to prepare and organise classroom resources and learning materials.
• Implement agreed intervention strategies and contribute to students' Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
• Supervise students during break times and other non-teaching periods, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Requirements

• Previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational or SEN setting.
• A good understanding of child development and learning support strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help children succeed.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions from teachers and SENCOs.
• Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools) are advantageous.
