Looking to start or develop your career in education?We are currently recruiting for a full-time Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary school in Birmingham.
This is an exciting temp-to-perm opportunity, with the potential to move into a permanent position for the right candidate. The school is looking for someone who is passionate about supporting young people, works well as part of a team and is keen to make a positive difference. You don't need to have years of experience – the school is open to applications from both new and experienced Teaching Assistants.
About the Role
The role will primarily involve classroom-based support, rather than working exclusively with one individual student. You will work alongside teachers and the wider SEND team to support students with a range of additional needs across the classroom. A significant proportion of the SEND provision includes students with SEMH and ADHD, so the ability to build positive relationships and provide calm, consistent support is important.
Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting students with SEND across the classroom. Working alongside teachers to help students access learning. Providing encouragement and support to students who may experience barriers to learning. Supporting students with SEMH, ADHD and a range of other additional needs. Helping students develop confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours. Building positive and trusting relationships with students. Working closely with the SEND team and teaching staff. Helping to create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment. Supporting students to remain engaged and focused during lessons.Who We're Looking ForThe school is not looking for a specific level of experience – personality, attitude and the ability to work well with students and colleagues are key.
You could be:
An experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a new opportunity. A recent graduate looking to begin a career in education. Someone who has recently completed a relevant qualification. A candidate with transferable experience working with children or young people. Someone already working in education who wants to develop their SEND experience.Most importantly, you'll be patient, approachable, reliable and committed to helping students succeed.
