SEN Teaching Assistant - Reception (1:1 ASD Support) Rossendale | Full-Time | Term Time Only Veritas Education

Veritas Education are working in partnership with a welcoming primary school in Rossendale who are looking to appoint a caring and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a child in Reception on a 1:1 basis.

This is a rewarding role for someone who has experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and is confident managing periods of dysregulation while helping a child access learning, develop communication skills and feel safe and settled within the classroom environment.

The Role

You will be working closely with a Reception-aged child with ASD, providing tailored support throughout the school day. The successful candidate will build positive relationships, implement agreed strategies and work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team.

We are looking for someone who:

Has previous experience supporting children with ASD. Understands how to support children during periods of dysregulation and heightened emotions. Has experience using communication aids such as communication cards, visual timetables, Now and Next boards, PECS or similar strategies. Can promote positive behaviour through patience, consistency and understanding. Has a nurturing and child-centred approach. Is confident adapting support to meet individual needs. Can work effectively as part of a wider team and communicate well with staff and parents.

The ideal candidate will have:

Experience working in a primary school, nursery, specialist provision or similar setting. Knowledge of autism-friendly approaches and sensory needs. A calm and resilient nature. A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs to achieve their potential.
