SEN Teaching Assistant – Secondary School

Location: Salisbury area Start Date: ASAP Contract: Long-Term | Full-Time Pay: £85.50–£95 per day, depending on experience Hours: 08:30–15:30

Supply Desk is recruiting for an SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school in the Salisbury area.

This is a fantastic long-term opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and helping students overcome barriers to learning.

About the School

The school supports students aged 11–16, with approximately 100 pupils. It offers a friendly, supportive environment where staff work closely together to provide high-quality education and personalised support.

The school places a strong emphasis on staff wellbeing and development, with plenty of support available from an experienced team. Free on-site parking is also available.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to support students both in and out of the classroom. You will provide additional support to pupils with SEN, helping them engage with learning, build confidence and make progress.

Your responsibilities will include:

Providing 1:1 and small-group support to students.

Supporting pupils with SEN and additional learning needs.

Working alongside teachers to deliver engaging lessons.

Helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Supporting behaviour management where required.

Preparing and adapting learning resources.

Monitoring and contributing to student progress.

Encouraging students to develop confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours.

What We're Looking For

Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

Experience as a Teaching Assistant or within an educational setting is advantageous.

A genuine passion for supporting young people.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

A patient, adaptable and positive approach.

The ability to work effectively as part of a team.

GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths are desirable.

Relevant Teaching Assistant or Education qualifications are advantageous but not essential.
