Job Description
Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?
Prospero Teaching is recruiting experienced SEND Teaching Assistants to work across Primary and SEN schools throughout Birmingham and the surrounding areas from September 2026.
We are looking for caring, confident and reliable Teaching Assistants who have experience supporting children with additional needs and are passionate about helping every child reach their potential.
The Role
Depending on your experience and the school, you could be:
Providing 1:1 or small-group SEND support
Supporting pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs and learning difficulties
Working within mainstream classrooms, SEND resource bases or specialist provisions
Supporting pupils' learning, communication and emotional development
Managing challenging behaviour using positive strategies
Delivering targeted interventions
Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and social skills
Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals
We're Looking For
Recent experience working as a Teaching Assistant or SEND Teaching Assistant
Experience supporting children within a UK school or education setting
A genuine passion for working with children with SEND
A patient, nurturing and resilient approach
Strong communication and behaviour-management skills
Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
Experience supporting Autism, ADHD, SEMH, complex needs, challenging behaviour, communication needs or sensory needs would be particularly valuable.
Position Details
Location: Birmingham and surrounding areas
Start: September 2026
Hours: Approximately 8:30am3:30pm, term time
Positions: Full-time, part-time and flexible supply
Contract: Temporary / long-term / ongoing opportunities
Pay: Competitive daily rates dependent on experience and assignment
