Job Description
The Opportunity
As a SEND Specialist Tutor, you will be responsible for planning and delivering tailored 1:1 lessons that meet the individual needs, abilities, and learning styles of each student.
You will work closely with Prospero Teaching throughout the placement, helping us monitor and support each pupil's progress. Tutors will be required to submit weekly progress reports, outlining engagement, achievements, challenges, and areas for further development.
We can accommodate both part-time and full-time hours, making this a flexible opportunity for tutors looking to make a real difference to the educational journey of young people with SEND in Jarrow
Contract/Position Details:
Location - Various locations across South Shields
Position - SEND Specialist Tutor
Type of work - Contract
Start date - ASAP
Setting - either within the student's home or in the community (learning hub/library)
Duration - Until the pupil is able to find a suitable school placement
Contract type - Temporary
Full-time/part-time availability, ranging from 6-15hours p/w per student
Rate of pay - up to £30 per hour (negotiable)Your role with us:
Deliver one-to-one or small group tuition supporting students with SEND, focusing on building confidence, teaching life skills, how to safely access the community, simple cooking and fostering independence
Develop and implement personalised lesson plans that address individual learning gaps.
Monitor student progress and provide regular, constructive feedback to students and their families.
Create a supportive and motivating learning environment to help students re-build their confidence in learning.
Complete daily attendance and weekly reports.Experience, Training and Qualifications of the SEND Specialist Tutor:
Children related/Education qualification
Possess UK classroom teaching experience
Be creative, patient and willing to think outside of the box
Have experience working with students with SEND including ASD, ADHD, GLD and challenging behavioursTo be eligible for this role, the potential SEND Specialist Tutor must:
Hold the right to work in the UK
Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
