Teaching Assistant - SEND Unit
Location: Hyde, Tameside Contract: Full-time, Long-term Start Date: ASAP Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Tradewind Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream primary school in Hyde, working within their dedicated SEND unit.
This is a full-time, long-term position supporting pupils with complex SEND needs, including challenging behaviour. The successful candidate will have experience working with children on a 1:1 basis and be confident providing tailored support to meet individual needs.
The Role
Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils within the school's SEND unit. Supporting children with complex SEND needs, including challenging behaviour. Helping pupils to engage with learning and develop their social, emotional and communication skills. Working closely with the class teacher, SEND team and other professionals to provide consistent support. Supporting pupils with their emotional regulation and behaviour throughout the school day.
The Ideal Candidate:
Previous experience supporting children with SEND, ideally within a specialist setting or SEND unit. Experience working with children on a 1:1 basis. Confident and experienced in supporting challenging behaviour. Calm, patient and consistent in their approach. Team Teach qualification is highly desirable, although not essential. A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification would be advantageous.This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant to join a supportive mainstream primary school and make a real difference to pupils with additional needs.
