Senior 3D Environment Artist

About the Role

Our client, a dynamic game development studio situated in Nottingham , is seeking an accomplished Senior 3D Environment Artist to craft immersive and visually stunning game worlds. You will be responsible for building high-quality 3D environments, from initial blockout to final polished assets, ensuring they align with the game's art direction and technical requirements. This role involves close collaboration with level designers, lighting artists, and art directors to create compelling and believable game spaces. You will play a key role in shaping the player's experience through exceptional environmental artistry.

Key Responsibilities

• Create high-quality 3D environment assets, including models, textures, and materials.
• Build and assemble detailed game levels and environments using proprietary or industry-standard engines.
• Collaborate with level designers to ensure environments support gameplay mechanics and player flow.
• Work with lighting artists to establish mood and atmosphere within environments.
• Optimize environment assets for performance across various platforms.
• Contribute to establishing art style guides and asset creation best practices.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a 3D Environment Artist in the game industry.
• Strong portfolio showcasing high-quality environmental art for games.
• Proficiency with 3D modeling software (e.g., Maya, 3ds Max, Blender) and texturing tools (e.g., Substance Painter, Photoshop).
• Experience with game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity.
• Good understanding of form, composition, lighting, and colour theory.
