About the Role
Our client is looking for a qualified and experienced Senior Accountant to join their finance team in Portsmouth . This hybrid role offers the chance to contribute to the accurate financial reporting and management of the company's accounts. You will be involved in a variety of accounting tasks, including preparing financial statements, managing ledgers, and supporting audits, while enjoying the flexibility of balancing office-based work with remote days. This is a key position within the finance department, offering significant responsibility and opportunities for professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
- Manage the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all financial transactions.
- Reconcile bank statements and intercompany accounts.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
- Support internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations.
Requirements
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with a minimum of 3-5 years of post-qualification experience.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, SAP) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of UK GAAP or IFRS.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team and with other departments.
