Senior Accountant

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly competent and experienced Senior Accountant to join their finance team in Derby . This role is pivotal in managing the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and supporting the Financial Controller. You will be involved in a wide range of accounting tasks, from preparing financial statements to managing the general ledger and assisting with audits. Key Responsibilities

• Manage the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
• Oversee the general ledger function, ensuring accurate and timely posting of all transactions.
• Reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts regularly.
• Assist with the preparation of tax filings and ensure compliance with all relevant tax regulations.
• Support the external audit process by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
• Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CIMA) is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 4-5 years of progressive experience in accounting.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS) and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, SAP) and advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment in our Derby office.
