About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Air Traffic Control Systems Specialist to join their operational team in Portsmouth . This role is crucial for ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of the complex systems that underpin modern air traffic management. You will be responsible for the maintenance, upgrade, and troubleshooting of advanced ATC technologies, working closely with air traffic controllers and engineering departments. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical knowledge of radar, communication, and navigation systems, coupled with a commitment to operational excellence and safety in a demanding aviation environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade critical Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems , including radar, communication, and navigation equipment.
- Perform system diagnostics and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and ensure operational continuity.
- Collaborate with air traffic controllers and other stakeholders to understand system performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Manage system configuration, software updates, and hardware replacements in line with operational requirements.
- Develop and conduct training for junior technical staff on ATC system operation and maintenance.
- Ensure all system maintenance activities comply with regulatory standards and safety protocols in Hampshire .
Requirements
- HND or Degree in Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience working with Air Traffic Control systems or similar complex radar and communication systems.
- Strong technical understanding of radar principles, VHF/UHF communication systems, and navigation aids (e.g., ILS, VOR).
- Experience with system diagnostics, fault finding, and preventative maintenance procedures.
- Familiarity with aviation regulations and safety standards relevant to ATC operations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
