About the Role
Our client is looking for an experienced and highly competent Senior Air Traffic Controller to manage air traffic operations at a busy aerodrome in Newcastle upon Tyne . In this pivotal role, you will ensure the safe, orderly, and expeditious flow of air traffic, coordinating with pilots, ground staff, and other air traffic control units. You will also contribute to the training and mentoring of junior controllers, upholding the highest standards of aviation safety and operational excellence within a dynamic control environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Control and manage all aircraft movements within assigned airspace, ensuring safe separation and efficient traffic flow.
- Communicate effectively with pilots via radio telephony, providing clearances, advisories, and essential information.
- Coordinate with adjacent control sectors, ground control, and emergency services during normal operations and in emergency situations.
- Monitor weather conditions and runway status, providing relevant information to pilots and management.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior air traffic controllers, assisting in their professional development and adherence to procedures.
Requirements
- Current and valid Air Traffic Controller Licence with relevant ratings (e.g., Aerodrome Control, Approach Control).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Air Traffic Controller in a comparable operational environment.
- Demonstrated ability to make critical decisions rapidly under pressure.
- Thorough knowledge of aviation regulations, ICAO standards, and local procedures.
- Excellent communication, situational awareness, and teamwork skills.
