About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Air Traffic Controller to join their operations team at a major UK airport located in London . This pivotal role involves managing the safe and efficient flow of air traffic, ensuring the highest standards of aviation safety are maintained. You will be responsible for coordinating aircraft movements on the ground and in the air, working within a dynamic and critical environment. This position demands exceptional concentration, decision-making skills, and a deep understanding of aviation regulations and procedures, contributing directly to the seamless operation of one of the world's busiest airspaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and guide aircraft movements in controlled airspace and on airport surfaces to prevent collisions and ensure efficient operations.
- Monitor weather conditions, radar displays, and communication systems to anticipate and manage potential hazards or delays.
- Communicate effectively with pilots, airline operations, and emergency services using standardized phraseology.
- Implement and adhere to strict safety protocols and standard operating procedures for air traffic control.
- Train and mentor junior controllers, providing guidance on best practices and complex scenarios.
- Participate in regular performance reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of air traffic control services.
Requirements
- Valid Air Traffic Controller license with relevant ratings (Aerodrome, Approach, Area Control).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar air traffic control role.
- Proven ability to make critical decisions under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English.
- Thorough knowledge of aviation regulations, ICAO standards, and local procedures.
- Ability to pass stringent security and medical checks relevant to aviation security.
