About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Aircraft Stress Engineer to join their established engineering department in Manchester . This hybrid role requires an individual with a profound understanding of structural mechanics and fatigue analysis within the aerospace context. You will be responsible for performing complex stress analysis on aircraft structures, ensuring compliance with rigorous airworthiness standards and contributing to the design and integrity of next-generation aircraft. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on challenging projects, mentor junior engineers, and make a significant impact on aircraft safety and performance, balancing on-site collaboration with remote flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced stress analysis and structural integrity assessments on aircraft components and assemblies using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software.
- Validate analytical results through testing and provide design recommendations to optimize structural performance and minimize weight.
- Develop and maintain detailed technical reports, documenting analysis methods, results, and conclusions.
- Collaborate closely with design engineers, manufacturing teams, and certification authorities throughout the product lifecycle.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant aerospace regulations and industry best practices.
Requirements
- Master's or Ph.D. in Aeronautical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a specialization in structural mechanics.
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in aircraft stress analysis or structural engineering.
- Extensive experience with FEA software (e.g., NASTRAN, ANSYS) and CAD tools.
- In-depth knowledge of aerospace materials, manufacturing processes, and failure modes.
- Strong understanding of fatigue and fracture mechanics principles applied to aerospace structures.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a hybrid team environment.
