Senior Analytical Chemist

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Analytical Chemist to join their dynamic R&D department based in Sunderland . This role is crucial for ensuring the quality and integrity of their innovative products through rigorous analytical testing. You will be responsible for developing, validating, and implementing advanced analytical methods to characterize complex chemical compounds and formulations. Working in a state-of-the-art laboratory, you will collaborate with a team of scientists and technicians, contributing to product development lifecycles from early-stage research through to manufacturing support, playing a key part in maintaining the high standards our client is known for.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and optimize analytical methods using techniques such as HPLC , GC-MS, NMR, and UV-Vis spectroscopy.
• Perform routine and non-routine analysis of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products.
• Troubleshoot analytical instrumentation and resolve technical issues encountered during testing.
• Interpret complex analytical data and provide clear, concise reports to project teams and management.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory guidelines (e.g., GMP, ISO) and internal quality standards.
• Mentor junior chemists and contribute to the overall scientific advancement of the analytical team in Sunderland .

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in analytical method development and validation.
• Proficiency with a range of analytical techniques, including chromatography (HPLC, GC) and spectroscopy (MS, NMR).
• Strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and quality control principles.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
