Senior Analytical Development Scientist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Analytical Development Scientist to lead critical projects within their state-of-the-art laboratory in Plymouth . This role is central to developing and validating robust analytical methods for pharmaceutical products throughout their lifecycle. You will play a key part in ensuring product quality and regulatory compliance by employing advanced analytical techniques and scientific expertise. The position requires a hands-on approach and strong leadership capabilities within a collaborative, lab-based setting, contributing to the successful development and commercialization of innovative medicines.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods (e.g., HPLC, GC, spectroscopy, dissolution) for raw materials, intermediates, and finished products.
• Investigate and troubleshoot analytical issues, implementing solutions to ensure method performance and reliability.
• Author and review method validation reports, technical reports, and protocols in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
• Characterize drug substances and drug products, providing critical data for formulation development and stability studies.
• Transfer analytical methods to quality control laboratories, ensuring successful implementation and ongoing support.
• Stay abreast of new analytical technologies and advancements, evaluating their potential application within the company.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or Master's degree in Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in analytical development for pharmaceutical products.
• Extensive experience with various analytical instrumentation and techniques, particularly HPLC and method validation.
• Strong understanding of ICH guidelines, GMP, and regulatory requirements for analytical testing.
• Excellent scientific writing and documentation skills.
• Proven ability to lead projects, mentor junior scientists, and collaborate effectively within a lab team.
