Senior Analytical Scientist - Pharmaceutical

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Senior Analytical Scientist to join their dynamic pharmaceutical research and development team in Sunderland . This critical role focuses on the development, validation, and execution of analytical methods essential for drug discovery and quality control. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of analytical data that supports regulatory submissions and product development lifecycles. Working within a state-of-the-art laboratory, you will collaborate with chemists, formulation scientists, and regulatory affairs specialists to achieve project milestones and contribute to the successful bringing of new therapies to market. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods for raw materials, intermediates, and finished pharmaceutical products.
• Perform routine and non-routine analytical testing using techniques such as HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, and dissolution.
• Investigate and troubleshoot analytical method deviations and out-of-specification results.
• Prepare technical reports, analytical method validation protocols, and summary reports for regulatory submissions.
• Ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines.

Requirements

• MSc or Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical analytical development.
• Proficiency with HPLC, GC, mass spectrometry, and other relevant analytical techniques.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements (ICH, FDA, EMA) and quality systems.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail in experimental execution and data reporting.
