Job Description
An established, design-led architectural practice based in Birmingham is looking for a Senior Architectural Technologist to join its growing team.
With a strong reputation for delivering bespoke, client focused buildings, the practice works across a genuinely diverse range of sectors including; Commercial, Aviation, Rail, Industrial, Education and Residential. Giving successful candidates exposure to varied and technically interesting projects rather than a single narrow specialism.
This is an opportunity to join a well regarded, collaborative studio that takes pride in both the quality of its design and the strength of its client relationships, seeing projects through from initial brief to successful completion.
The Role
As a Senior Architectural Technologist, you'll take a leading role in the technical delivery of projects, working closely with architects and project leads from concept through to construction. You'll be expected to bring strong technical knowledge, sound judgement, and the ability to manage your own workload and mentor more junior members of the team.
Key responsibilities
Producing detailed technical drawings, specifications and construction information
Leading on technical design development across a range of project types and sectors
Ensuring compliance with Building Regulations, British Standards and relevant legislation
Coordinating with structural engineers, M&E consultants and other members of the design team
Managing information packages through RIBA Stages 3–6
Supporting and reviewing the work of junior technologists and technical staff
Contributing to the continued development of technical standards and best practice within the practice
About You
Qualified Architectural Technologist (MCIAT or working towards chartership) or equivalent significant experience
Strong technical detailing and specification-writing skills
Proven experience delivering projects through to construction stage
Proficiency in Revit is highly desirable; familiarity with BIM workflows an advantage
Excellent working knowledge of UK Building Regulations and construction technology
Strong communication skills, with the confidence to liaise directly with clients, contractors and consultants
Experience across multiple sectors is a plus, especially those as mentioned above (Commercial, Industrial, Aviation, Education etc)
What's on Offer
Salary in the region of £42,000–£50,000, dependent on experience
Hybrid working — typically 3 days in the office and 2 days from home, following an initial full-time office-based probationary period
