Job Description Overview

Ares Secondaries has pioneered and innovated within secondary markets across three decades and a range of alternative asset classes, including private equity, credit, real estate, and infrastructure. Over the course of our 30-year history in this space, we have invested across thousands of partnership interests, driving highly differentiated and proprietary transactions through our deeply established relationships with institutional investors, fund sponsors, and market advisors. Today, Ares Secondaries has more than 150 professionals across six offices in New York, Boston, Dallas, London, Hong Kong, and West Hartford, Connecticut. Ares Secondaries is a market leader across GP-led and LP-led transactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate investment opportunities and drive the fundamental due diligence and analytical effort during the investment process.
• Lead transaction teams throughout the entire process, including managing and reviewing the work of junior team members.
• Prepare and present investment recommendations to committees and the broader investment team.
• Manage the closing process, including preparation and confirmation of legal documentation and other related materials.
• Develop and demonstrate an ability to consistently represent the firm in the global investment community, including representing the firm outside of the office at marketing meetings, diligence sessions, investor meetings, conferences, and other events.
• Develop a network of contacts in the credit secondaries industry through deal negotiations, due diligence activities and attendance at industry conferences and other networking events.
• Assist in portfolio analytics and fund performance monitoring.

Education/Experience Required

• 5+ years of relevant work experience in Credit Lending, Direct Lending, or Secondary Investing.
• Strong academic record, demonstrated leadership skills, excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Sophisticated modelling and analytical capabilities.
• Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects.
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment, and with senior and junior professionals.
• Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to handle and thrive with increased independence and managerial responsibilities.
