Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Automotive Design Engineer to join their established team in Norwich . This on-site role focuses on the conceptualization, design, and development of innovative automotive components and systems. You will play a key role in translating customer needs and technical requirements into tangible, high-quality designs that meet stringent industry standards. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of automotive components, from concept through to production, ensuring adherence to specifications.
- Create detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and technical documentation using CAD software.
- Perform stress analysis, simulations, and design reviews to validate designs for performance and durability.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, purchasing, and quality departments to ensure design feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
- Identify and implement design improvements to enhance product performance, reliability, and cost.
- Mentor junior design engineers and provide technical guidance throughout the design process.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in automotive component design.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks) and associated analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials relevant to automotive applications.
- Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA).
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
