About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly creative and experienced Senior Automotive Design Engineer to join their advanced engineering department in Derby . This hybrid role is crucial for conceptualizing, designing, and developing innovative automotive components and systems that push the boundaries of aesthetics and functionality. You will lead design projects, utilizing state-of-the-art CAD tools and working closely with cross-functional teams to translate initial concepts into production-ready designs. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptualization and detailed design of automotive components and systems using advanced CAD software.
• Develop 3D models, 2D drawings, and assemblies, ensuring adherence to design standards and project specifications.
• Perform design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) analysis to optimize production processes.
• Collaborate with simulation engineers to validate designs through virtual testing and analysis.
• Work closely with manufacturing and supply chain teams to ensure seamless production implementation.
• Mentor junior design engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and tools.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive design , with a strong portfolio of relevant work.
• Expert proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA V5/V6, SolidWorks) and familiarity with CAE tools.
• Deep understanding of automotive materials, manufacturing processes, and styling trends.
• Proven ability to lead design projects and work effectively in a collaborative, hybrid environment.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
