Senior Automotive Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Automotive Design Engineer to join their dynamic team in Manchester . This hybrid role allows for a blend of on-site collaboration and remote flexibility, focusing on the conceptualization and development of innovative automotive components and systems. You will play a crucial role in transforming design concepts into tangible, production-ready solutions, working closely with manufacturing and engineering departments. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of automotive components and systems, from concept ideation through to production release.
• Utilize CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks) to create detailed 2D and 3D designs, models, and assemblies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including styling, manufacturing, and testing, to ensure design feasibility and integration.
• Conduct feasibility studies , stress analysis, and tolerance stack-ups to validate designs.
• Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, reports, and presentations for internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical growth of the design team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Significant experience (5+ years) in automotive design engineering, with a portfolio showcasing relevant projects.
• Expertise in CAD software and a strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and DFM (Design for Manufacturability).
• Knowledge of automotive standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid model, balancing remote and office-based work.
