Senior Automotive Mechanical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Senior Automotive Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Sunderland . You will be involved in the entire product development cycle, from concept generation and detailed design to validation and production support, working within a fast-paced automotive environment. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems and components for automotive applications using CAD software .
• Perform calculations and simulations (e.g., FEA) to ensure components meet performance, durability, and safety requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, and manufacturing personnel.
• Manage design verification and validation activities, including testing and data analysis.
• Ensure designs comply with automotive industry standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 26262, relevant OEM specifications).
• Prepare technical documentation, design reports, and present findings at design reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in mechanical design within the automotive industry .
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks) and CAE tools for analysis.
• Strong understanding of automotive systems, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
