About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Automotive Powertrain Engineer to join their progressive team in Reading . This role will focus on the design, development, and optimization of advanced automotive powertrain systems, including internal combustion engines, hybrid systems, and electric powertrains. You will lead key projects, contribute to strategic technical decisions, and mentor junior engineers. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of innovative powertrain components and systems.
• Perform complex simulations and analysis (e.g., CFD, FEA) to optimize performance and efficiency.
• Oversee powertrain testing and validation activities, interpreting results to drive improvements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., electrical, software) to integrate powertrain components.
• Develop technical specifications and documentation for powertrain systems.
• Stay current with emerging powertrain technologies and trends, proposing new solutions.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in automotive powertrain engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of engine, hybrid, or EV powertrain technologies and components.
• Proficiency with simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, GT-POWER, ANSYS).
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and mechanical design principles.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
