About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Automotive Powertrain Engineer to join their dedicated engineering team in Bradford . This critical role focuses on the development, optimization, and validation of advanced automotive powertrain systems. You will be instrumental in pushing the boundaries of efficiency, performance, and emissions reduction for future vehicle generations. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and calibration of automotive powertrain components and systems (e.g., engines, transmissions, hybrid systems).
- Conduct performance analysis, efficiency mapping, and emissions testing, utilizing advanced simulation tools and dynamometers.
- Develop and validate control strategies for powertrain systems to meet performance, regulatory, and fuel economy targets.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex powertrain-related issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
- Manage powertrain development projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute technical expertise to strategic powertrain development initiatives.
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Significant experience (7+ years) in automotive powertrain development and engineering.
- In-depth knowledge of internal combustion engines, hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) systems, or electric vehicle (EV) powertrains.
- Proficiency with powertrain simulation software (e.g., GT-SUITE, AVL CRUISE) and data analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of emissions regulations and fuel economy standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills for on-site collaboration.
