Senior Automotive Powertrain Engineer

About the Role

Our client, a key innovator in the automotive manufacturing sector, is looking for a highly motivated Senior Automotive Powertrain Engineer to join their dedicated team in Bradford . This role is central to the development and optimization of advanced powertrain systems, including internal combustion engines, hybrid, and electric powertrains. You will leverage your deep technical knowledge to drive performance improvements, enhance efficiency, and ensure compliance with stringent emissions regulations. This on-site position requires a hands-on approach and a passion for pushing the boundaries of automotive propulsion technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and calibration of automotive powertrain components and systems.
• Conduct performance analysis and simulation of powertrains, identifying areas for optimization.
• Develop and execute rigorous testing protocols for powertrain components and complete systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software, mechanical, and electrical engineers, to integrate powertrain solutions.
• Ensure all powertrain designs meet performance targets, regulatory requirements, and cost objectives.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex powertrain issues during development and production phases.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in automotive powertrain development.
• Proven expertise in engine management systems, fuel injection, emissions control, or electric/hybrid powertrain technology.
• Experience with simulation tools such as GT-Power, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a meticulous attention to detail.
• Knowledge of automotive industry standards and practices related to powertrain development.
