Senior Automotive Systems Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a strategic Senior Automotive Systems Engineer to join their innovative team in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK . This role is crucial for overseeing the architecture, integration, and validation of complex automotive systems, ensuring seamless interaction between various vehicle subsystems. You will play a key role in defining system requirements, managing interfaces, and ensuring that the final integrated system meets all performance, safety, and regulatory objectives. Key Responsibilities

• Define and manage the system architecture for automotive electronic and mechanical systems.
• Develop and maintain system requirements, interface control documents (ICDs), and functional safety concepts.
• Lead system integration activities, ensuring compatibility and seamless operation between diverse vehicle subsystems.
• Oversee system validation and verification processes, including planning and execution of tests.
• Collaborate closely with component engineers, software developers, and quality assurance teams.
• Identify and mitigate system-level risks throughout the product development lifecycle.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related systems engineering field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in automotive systems engineering or a similar complex systems role.
• Strong understanding of automotive architectures, including vehicle networks (CAN, LIN, Ethernet) and ECUs.
• Experience with systems engineering tools and methodologies (e.g., SysML, MBSE).
• Knowledge of functional safety (ISO 26262) and cybersecurity principles in automotive applications.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
