Our client, a leading automotive service provider in Reading , is seeking a highly skilled Senior Automotive Technician with a specialization in Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (HEVs) . This critical role involves diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing the increasingly complex electrical and mechanical systems found in modern HEVs. You will be at the forefront of automotive technology, working with cutting-edge diagnostic equipment and advanced powertrains. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of high-voltage systems, battery management, and electric motor technology, coupled with strong diagnostic capabilities. Key Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repair on hybrid and electric vehicle systems, including high-voltage batteries, electric motors, and power electronics.
• Utilize specialized diagnostic tools and software for HEVs to identify and resolve faults.
• Conduct routine servicing and inspections, ensuring all vehicle safety and performance standards are met.
• Safely handle high-voltage components and adhere to stringent safety protocols for working with electric vehicles.
• Interpret technical schematics and repair manuals specific to hybrid and electric powertrains.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior technicians on HEV-related tasks.
• Maintain accurate service records and documentation for all work performed on HEVs.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Automotive Technician with a significant focus on hybrid and electric vehicles.
• Relevant qualifications or certifications in working with high-voltage automotive systems (e.g., IMI Level 3 or 4).
• Strong understanding of electric motor technology, battery management systems (BMS), and power electronics.
• Proficiency with HEV-specific diagnostic tools and software.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work methodically and safely.
• A valid driving licence is required.
