About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Avionics Software Engineer to join their innovative engineering team in Sheffield . This critical role involves the design, development, and verification of safety-critical software for complex avionics systems. You will be instrumental in leading software development efforts, ensuring adherence to stringent aerospace software standards (such as DO-178C) and contributing to the overall system integrity and performance of our aircraft platforms. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of embedded systems, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and software development lifecycles within the aerospace domain.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement real-time embedded software for avionics systems, adhering to strict coding standards and guidelines.
- Perform software requirements analysis, architectural design, and detailed design activities for safety-critical applications.
- Conduct rigorous software verification and validation activities, including unit testing, integration testing, and system testing.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers and systems engineers to ensure seamless integration of software and hardware components.
- Participate in code reviews, configuration management, and defect tracking processes to maintain software quality.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of software development environments and toolchains.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in embedded software development, with at least 5 years focused on avionics software.
- Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming languages and experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS).
- In-depth knowledge of software development processes for safety-critical systems (e.g., DO-178C).
- Experience with software analysis tools, debugging techniques, and version control systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment in Sheffield .
