Senior Avionics Systems Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Avionics Systems Engineer to join their innovative team based in Southampton . Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of integrated avionics systems , including flight control computers, navigation systems, communication radios, and displays.
• Define system requirements, architecture, and interfaces based on aircraft-level specifications and aerospace standards .
• Oversee and execute system integration, testing, and validation activities, ensuring all components function cohesively.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to avionics hardware and software throughout the product lifecycle.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software, hardware, and systems engineers, as well as external suppliers.
• Prepare technical documentation, test procedures, and reports for internal reviews and regulatory submissions.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in avionics systems engineering.
• Strong understanding of avionics architectures, communication protocols (e.g., ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, AFDX), and relevant standards.
• Proven experience with systems integration, testing, and verification & validation (V&V) processes in the aerospace industry .
• Familiarity with aircraft certification requirements and processes (e.g., EASA, FAA).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
