Senior Backend Developer - Python

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Backend Developer with expertise in Python to join their innovative team in Oxford . You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust, scalable, and high-performance server-side applications and APIs. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy efficient, scalable, and maintainable backend services using Python and related frameworks (e.g., Django, Flask).
• Build and manage RESTful APIs to support front-end applications and third-party integrations.
• Optimize application performance, database queries, and overall system architecture.
• Write clean, well-documented, and thoroughly tested code adhering to best practices.
• Collaborate with product managers, front-end developers, and other stakeholders to deliver features.
• Participate actively in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and mentoring junior engineers.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production environments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in backend development , with a strong focus on Python.
• Expertise in Python and experience with web frameworks like Django or Flask.
• Strong understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and ORMs.
• Experience with building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker) is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
