Senior Backend Developer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Backend Developer to join their innovative technology team in Belfast . Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement scalable and high-performance backend services and APIs using Node.js or similar technologies.
• Optimize application performance, database interactions, and system architecture for maximum efficiency and reliability.
• Write clean, well-documented, and thoroughly tested code, adhering to best practices and participating actively in code reviews.
• Collaborate with front-end developers, product managers, and designers to deliver seamless user experiences.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems, ensuring stability and performance in production environments.
• Contribute to architectural discussions and technology roadmap planning, influencing the future direction of the platform.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in backend development, with a strong focus on building scalable systems.
• Expertise in one or more backend programming languages, such as JavaScript (Node.js) , Python, Java, or Go.
• Proficiency with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization tools like Docker.
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design principles and microservices architecture.
