About the Role

Our client is seeking a motivated Senior Backend Engineer with a specialization in API Development to join their growing technical team in Stoke-on-Trent . You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure APIs that power our core applications and services. This role demands a deep understanding of backend architectures, database design, and best practices for API development. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices using modern backend technologies.
• Implement efficient database schemas and optimize query performance for large datasets.
• Ensure the security, scalability, and reliability of backend systems and APIs.
• Collaborate with frontend developers and product managers to define API specifications and integration points.

Requirements

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

• Deep understanding of API design principles (REST, GraphQL), security standards, and documentation tools (e.g., Swagger/OpenAPI).
