Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Backend Engineer to join their dynamic technology team in Wolverhampton . This role focuses on the design, development, and maintenance of robust, scalable APIs that power their core services and integrate with partner systems. You will collaborate closely with frontend developers, product managers, and architects to deliver high-quality, efficient backend solutions. This hybrid position offers a blend of collaborative office work and the flexibility of remote working, contributing to the foundational elements of our client's digital offerings.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain high-performance, scalable RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Develop robust backend logic and database interactions using modern programming languages and frameworks.
- Write clean, efficient, well-documented, and thoroughly tested code.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Optimize application performance, database queries, and system architecture for scalability and reliability.
- Participate actively in code reviews and contribute to architectural discussions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development.
- Strong proficiency in a backend language such as Python, Node.js, Java, or C#.
- Experience designing and implementing API specifications (e.g., OpenAPI/Swagger).
- Solid understanding of relational and/or NoSQL databases.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization is a plus.
