About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to contribute to their growing technology team in Sheffield . This role will focus on designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, resilient microservices that form the backbone of our platform. You will collaborate with a talented team of engineers to build robust solutions, optimize performance, and ensure the reliability of our systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of distributed systems and a passion for building high-quality, maintainable code in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy highly scalable and performant microservices using modern backend technologies.
- Write clean, efficient, well-documented, and thoroughly tested code, adhering to best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management and frontend engineers, to deliver features.
- Optimize application performance, database interactions, and overall system architecture.
- Participate actively in code reviews and technical design discussions.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex issues in production and development environments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development .
- Strong proficiency in at least one modern backend language (e.g., Python, Go, Java, Node.js).
- Proven experience designing and implementing microservices architecture .
- Solid understanding of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL) and distributed systems concepts.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
