Senior Backend Engineer (Remote)

About the Role

Our client is looking for a talented and driven Senior Backend Engineer to join their fully remote team, supporting their operations in Manchester and beyond. You will play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining the server-side logic, databases, and APIs that power their cutting-edge applications. This position offers the flexibility of working from anywhere in the UK, focusing on delivering high-quality, scalable backend systems. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy robust, scalable, and high-performance backend services and APIs.
• Optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and reliability across distributed systems.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, adhering to industry best practices.
• Collaborate effectively with front-end developers and other stakeholders to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
• Manage and optimize database schemas and queries for efficient data retrieval and storage.
• Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to technical decision-making for future projects.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in backend development, with a focus on building scalable systems.
• Strong proficiency in a server-side language such as Node.js , Python , Go, or Java.
• Extensive experience with RESTful API design and implementation.
• In-depth knowledge of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB).
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS , GCP) and containerization (Docker).
• Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work effectively in a remote, asynchronous environment.
