About the Role
Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Backend Engineer to join their dynamic technology team in Plymouth . This role is instrumental in developing and scaling the server-side infrastructure that powers their innovative digital platforms. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust, high-performance backend systems. Operating within a hybrid work model , you will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with your colleagues in the office while also enjoying the flexibility of remote work. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy scalable and resilient backend services and APIs using modern programming languages and frameworks.
- Optimize application performance, database interactions, and system architecture for maximum efficiency and reliability.
- Collaborate with product managers, front-end engineers, and other stakeholders to define requirements and deliver high-quality features.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, participating actively in code reviews and mentoring junior engineers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production and development environments.
- Contribute to the evolution of our client's technical roadmap and architectural strategy.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in backend software development .
- Strong proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Python , Java , Go, or Node.js.
- Deep understanding of database technologies (SQL/NoSQL), caching mechanisms, and message queues.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to lead technical initiatives within a team.
