Senior Backend Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly competent Senior Backend Engineer to join their technology team in Portsmouth . Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and high-performance backend services and APIs.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to define and implement new features.
• Optimize application performance, database queries, and server infrastructure for speed and efficiency.
• Write clean, well-documented, and thoroughly tested code, participating actively in code reviews.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production and development environments.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technology choices for backend systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in backend software development.
• Strong proficiency in server-side languages such as Node.js, Python, Java, or C#.
• Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and microservices architecture.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a hybrid team setting based in Portsmouth .
