Senior Backend Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join their fully remote team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust, scalable, and efficient backend systems and APIs that power the company's cutting-edge applications. This role requires a deep understanding of server-side logic, database management, and API design, with a strong emphasis on performance optimization and security. As a key member of the engineering department, you will contribute to technical strategy, mentor junior engineers, and help shape the future of our client's technology stack.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain high-quality, scalable, and reliable backend services and APIs using modern programming languages and frameworks.
• Design and implement efficient database schemas and optimize database performance for large-scale applications.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, adhering to industry best practices and security standards.
• Collaborate with front-end developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems, ensuring optimal performance and stability.
• Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the development process.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development.
• Strong expertise in one or more backend languages such as Python, Java, Go, or Node.js.
• Proficiency in designing and working with relational and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Solid understanding of API design principles (RESTful, GraphQL) and microservices architecture.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative environment.
