Senior Backend Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join their growing technology team in Edinburgh . Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend services and APIs using modern languages and frameworks (e.g., Python/Django, Node.js/Express, Java/Spring).
• Optimize application performance, database queries, and system architecture for reliability and efficiency.
• Write clean, well-documented, and thoroughly tested code, participating actively in code reviews to ensure high quality.
• Collaborate with frontend teams to define and implement API integrations, ensuring seamless data flow.
• Implement and manage database solutions (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB), ensuring data integrity and security.
• Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to technical decision-making processes.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in backend software development.
• Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language (e.g., Python, Java, Go, C#).
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs.
• Solid understanding of database technologies, both relational and non-relational.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges.
