Senior Backend Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join their thriving technology team, operating on a remote-first basis from their operational hub in Bradford . You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the server-side logic and APIs that power innovative applications used by a wide range of clients. This role requires a deep understanding of scalable systems, database management, and API design. You will collaborate closely with front-end developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver robust and efficient backend solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and deploy scalable and high-performance backend services and APIs.
• Design and manage relational and non-relational databases to ensure data integrity and efficiency.
• Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices.
• Optimize applications for speed, scalability, and security.
• Participate in code reviews and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Backend Engineer or similar role.
• Strong proficiency in backend programming languages such as Python, Java, Node.js, or C#.
• Experience with database systems like PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or similar.
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles and microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker) is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and effectively in a remote setting.
