Senior Biochemist - Drug Discovery

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Senior Biochemist to join their dynamic Drug Discovery team in Southampton . In this role, you will play a key part in identifying and characterizing novel therapeutic targets and developing innovative biochemical assays. You will contribute to vital projects within Scientific Research & Development , working collaboratively to advance promising drug candidates through the early stages of development. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize biochemical and biophysical assays for target validation and compound screening.
• Characterize the interaction of small molecules and biologics with target proteins using techniques such as SPR, ITC, and enzyme kinetics.
• Purify proteins and enzymes using chromatography techniques for use in biochemical assays.
• Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and present findings to cross-functional project teams.
• Contribute to the planning and execution of research strategies to identify and advance new drug candidates.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and contribute to scientific reports and publications.

Requirements

• PhD in Biochemistry, Biophysics, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant postdoctoral or industry experience in drug discovery.
• Strong hands-on experience with a variety of biochemical and biophysical assay formats.
• Proficiency in protein purification techniques and characterization methods.
• Experience with data analysis software and a thorough understanding of enzyme kinetics and binding thermodynamics.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills.
