About the Role
Our client is searching for a highly skilled Senior Bioinformatician to bolster their clinical genomics team in Plymouth . This critical role will involve analyzing patient genomic data to support diagnostic efforts, identify genetic variants associated with disease, and contribute to personalized medicine initiatives. You will work closely with clinical geneticists, pathologists, and researchers in a laboratory setting, leveraging your expertise in bioinformatics to translate raw genomic data into actionable clinical insights. Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret large-scale clinical genomic data, including whole exome and whole genome sequencing.
- Develop and optimize bioinformatics pipelines for variant calling, annotation, and interpretation.
- Collaborate with clinicians to diagnose genetic disorders and support treatment decisions.
- Contribute to the validation of new genomic assays and technologies.
- Maintain clear and concise documentation of analytical methods and results.
Requirements
- Master's or Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genetics, or a related field.
- Significant experience in clinical bioinformatics, with a strong understanding of human genetics and disease mechanisms.
- Proficiency in genomic data analysis tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, R, Bash).
- Experience with variant annotation databases and interpretation guidelines (e.g., ACMG).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a clinical laboratory setting.
