Senior Bioinformatician - Genomics Analysis

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Bioinformatician to join their fully remote research team. This role is critical for advancing genomic research by developing and applying sophisticated computational methods to large-scale sequencing data. You will lead the analysis of genomic, transcriptomic, and epigenomic datasets, contributing to the discovery of novel biological insights and therapeutic targets. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of bioinformatics pipelines for the analysis of next-generation sequencing (NGS) data (e.g., WGS, WES, RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq).
• Apply advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to identify genetic variants, gene expression patterns, and regulatory elements.
• Develop and maintain robust code, scripts, and databases for data management and analysis workflows.
• Collaborate closely with experimental biologists, geneticists, and clinicians to interpret complex genomic data and generate actionable biological insights.
• Mentor junior bioinformaticians and contribute to the strategic direction of genomic data analysis efforts.
• Present findings and methodologies to internal teams and potentially at scientific conferences.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in analyzing large-scale genomic and transcriptomic datasets.
• Expertise in programming languages such as Python or R, and proficiency with common bioinformatics tools and libraries.
• Strong understanding of statistical methods, machine learning algorithms, and data visualization techniques relevant to genomics.
• Experience with cloud computing environments (e.g., AWS, GCP) and containerization (e.g., Docker).
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and project leadership skills.
